I purchased a VW California from this branch as a distance sale. I gave 2 stars because the delivery of the van was smooth and delivery driver great. Otherwise, it wasn’t an easy purchase. I thought as a VW branch they would be knowledgeable about the Cali but this wasn’t the case; getting information about it was like pulling teeth, I knew more than them -likewise getting decent video demonstrations of all the operational parts, that are important when buying a campervan vs. a car. Specific details I was given were wrong; I questioned a window chip mentioned in an earlier mot and was told this was fixed before I paid deposit. It was not, and came up again with new mot. Appreciate they finally sorted this out but it added days onto an already lengthy purchase period and contributed the stress of paying £40k + van I hadn’t seen. They listed it as having fridge in the advert and only after I asked to see this did they admit it was missing. When it arrived the table was also broken, another detail they missed out. It doesn’t fit into the side door stowaway compartment as the latch is broken. These tables are £500 to replace. There is no way they didn’t know this as they kept picturing the table in the boot and I did wonder why it wasn’t stowed away; I should have questioned this too obviously. One of the blinds is also broken. Additionally, When the van arrived it was filthy inside; talking pubic hair in the poptop bed, dog mess in the boot, marks all over the soft furnishings. Any kind of valet had been done on the main seats only; again treating it as a car not a van. The awning was dirty and latch on one leg broken. These are not serious issues but as I say such an expensive purchase I am disappointed I wasn’t made aware of all these niggles. As a distance sale I felt they took advantage of the fact I couldn’t check it in real life. I got the van looked over after purchase and there’s an oil leak. Contacted them about this explaining this and one other technical issue and asked if covered by warranty; still awaiting a response. They got my address wrong on v5 had to ask for a replacement. I never received a welcome pack or any form of aftersales check up. Certainly would not recommend the branch for a distance sale; maybe better in person (this was offered to me but not logically possible). Disappointing and stressful experience buying a beautiful campervan, shame.
