My experience at Dacia Croydon

I would not recommend Dacia Croydon because the Salesman made a number of false statements to me about the car and sat nav system. At one point asking if I could afford to buy it after I had already paid a deposit to hold the car. The salesman was asked if the sat nav had European maps, to which we found after picking the car up that it didn't, also we asked for the sat nav to be updated before pickup, He told us at pickup that it had be checked and didn't need one, once home we found it needed 2 updates from 2014 to 2016. We were repeatedly told that we were not buying the car from Dacia Croydon, but from Renault Retail group, who set the prices. On further investigation with Renault head office in London, we found this to be false, you are buying it off Dacia Croydon do not be fooled. They refused to upgrade the maps and add the European maps when we requested this, as this was part of the sale, and the Garage knew this. Stay away from this garage as full of deception and misrepresentation.

Dacia Croydon's Reply

Dear Mr and Mrs Taylor,

I must respond to your comments left here as it does not paint an accurate picture.

Firstly Ricky had a conversation with yourself and your son at his desk whilst viewing the vehicle initially. Ricky recalls clearly that he was asked by your son/yourself whether ‘the maps are up to date and whether it was the whole of Europe that was covered?’. He confirmed that it was not European but UK only and that it could be added at an extra cost. No cost was inquired upon following that statement. Certainly at no point was it specified from your side that this was a proviso of the purchase and was never something we agreed to absorb the cost of. Indeed the order form bears no such suggestion of ‘European maps to be supplied and downloaded free of charge’, this has been signed by both parties and no email prior to collection lists any reference, I have checked each correspondance.

He also has informed me that upon collection, at his desk, your husband at that stage said he ‘thought it would come with it?’ and Ricky confirmed again that it didn’t. At that point did no-one dispute anything of the sort of that either ‘Ricky said it did’ or that we were doing so as part of an agreement. If he had clearly done so, I would have expected something to have been raised there and then before driving the vehicle off our forecourt and the fact that no-one did further confirms that it was indeed an incorrect assumption, I was present sitting in my office at the point of the handover and indeed there was no suggestion of any issue looking through my glass panel.

The Sat Nav was indeed updated to make sure all maps were up to date which is what we confirmed we would do, sometimes it will not accept a new update as it has the most current version sofware. We do this with all our cars as a matter of course, Ricky as all of our sales staff (especially as many have worked here for a number of years) are, is only too familiar with European maps being an extra cost purchase.

Can I clarify what you say regarding us asking whether you could afford it. Before seeing the vehicle you showed a strong interest and wished to remove the car from sale with a deposit. We agreed the £6,850 price tag and before taking any such deposit confirmed with you that this was the price and we could not do any less. I was therefore somewhat shocked when a day or so prior to viewing the vehicle, you sent Ricky an email saying that you 'having paid the deposit would like to now start negotiating!!' I was even more shocked to see you say that you wanted to pay £5,500?! Having had a sell able car taken off sale from your request on the understanding it was our bottom price, I instructed Ricky to politely remind you that we had those conversations prior to placing the order and if indeed you could only afford to pay the £5,500 we will need to place the vehicle back on the market and refund your deposit. We would never be as unprofessional as to suggest to anyo
