Get to know our summer interns

JudgeService have welcomed three students from York University to partake on a 12-week internship during the summer.

Dominic, James and Hannah have joined our team to help us set up some new projects and to support the work they are doing alongside their studies.

We hope that they enjoy their time with us at JudgeService HQ and that they leave us having learnt some valuable skills!

Dominic

Dominic is from Kent, and he is in his first year studying Economics and Finance. He is working with Wendy and John in our finance department to create a financial model to predict the outcome of a product release.

The analysis on the long-term return on investment of new products will help us to see which product ideas are worthwhile investing in.

Dominic is a big rugby union fan and says that he would “love to eventually work as a Finance Officer at a rugby club” as it’s something he’s always found interesting. Alternatively, he’d be interested in working in the finance sector in the world of banking.

Due to his first year of study being hosted predominantly online, Dominic says that the internship is “a great way to get a feel for the workplace environment and pick up skills like using Excel spreadsheets”, which he will be able to use again in the future.

Dominic plays a lot of rugby but also enjoys watching sport online too, he says he’s sociable and enjoys going out to the pub also.

If he has any extra spare time, Dominic says he enjoys reading into finance history and trying to keep up with the world of crypto currency!

James

James comes from a very small village on the outskirts of Leicester called Thurmaston, but he is currently living in York while he studies Economics at York University.

“Studying economics gives me a wide range of options career wise for after I leave university, I’m not 100% sure of what I want to do at the moment, but marketing is something I’ve had a little bit of experience in before and I find it such an interesting field of work. I’m keeping my options open!”.

James’ internships is based around new market research and seeing where JudgeService can go in terms of expanding out of the automotive sector. He has a few ideas up his sleeve already!

In his spare time James says he loves to socialise and now that restrictions are starting to ease, he’s happy he can go out and see people again.

Hannah

Originally from Beverly in East Yorkshire, Hannah is currently in her second year of studying Business Management at university.

In third year, Hannah gets to pick all of her own modules, giving her that freedom to choose a direction in which to focus her future career on.

“I hope to specialise in marketing and analysing data, which this internship will help me get hands on experience with too”.

Hannah is working with James to research the other markets JudgeService provide solutions for such as, hospitality, property and legal.

She will also be looking to use primary and secondary sources in order to research new markets that JudgeService could potentially look to enter in the future!

“I’m hoping the internship will improve the depth of my research skills, networking skills and give me experience with communicating with clients”.

When she’s not studying Hannah enjoys going out for food, shopping and running, she’s currently trying to improve her distance from 5k to 10k!
